Our Team

From the very beginning, we decided to place patients at the centre of the Biom'up project: we are as passionate about the technological challenges as by the human adventure.

Biom'up's success is based on 'know-how', expertise and the synergy of its employees. Having a team that is both motivated by innovation and ready to tackle today's technological challenges enables Biom'up to create value and to work on the development of biomaterials of the future.

George Makhoul George Makhoul
Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Makhoul has a track record in commercializing medical products to hospitals and surgeons combined with a strong experience of the US hemostasis market.
George Makhoul has over 16 years of sales, marketing, and business development leadership experience in both the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, specifically in hemostasis as well as over 13 years of targeted focus in Biosurgery, Orthopedics, and Biologics. He has led teams on both a large and small scale ranging from $10M - $1.8B in annual revenues.
Prior to joining Biom’up, Mr. Makhoul spent eight years at Stryker in multiple senior leadership positions. While at Stryker, Mr. Makhoul successfully led the sales and marketing functions of two separate new divisions within Stryker’s Orthobiologics business unit, including leading teams that developed products from conception to commercialization. Other organizations he has served prior to Stryker are Wyeth (now Pfizer), Genzyme, and Precision Therapeutics.
George Makhoul holds a degree in Business Management from Moravian College.

Paul Uricchio Paul Uricchio
US Director of Marketing

Paul Uricchio joined Biom’up in March 2018 as US director of marketing. He has responsibility for all US marketing initiatives including product launches and branding, communications, advertising and digital asset development. Paul also manages medical society sponsorships, conferences and sales training. Prior to joining Biom’up, Paul was a senior product manager at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals where he led the global launch of two topical hemostats along with several product development and lifecycle management initiatives for the topical hemostat business. Prior to Mallinckrodt, Paul spent more than 15 years in various marketing and sales roles in the acute care and specialty pharmaceutical and medical device spaces. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communications from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania and an MBA in marketing from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia.

Tom Maguire Tom Maguire
Vice President of Regulatory and Compliance Affairs US

Tom has led regulatory, clinical, quality and compliance teams for more than 20 years (Synthes, EPMedsystems, Kensey-Nash, DSM Biomedical). Tom was responsible for worldwide regulatory and clinical strategy for a range of regenerative implant products used in orthopedic, spine, general surgery, plastic & reconstructive, cardiovascular and dental procedures. He has also directed product development activities specific to anti-microbial enhancements for devices. Tom has a B. Sc. in Physics and an MBA in International Business.

Carine Cochereau Carine Cochereau
Vice President Quality, Regulatory and Clinical Affairs

Carine Cochereau holds a pharmacist's degree and a doctoral thesis of Pharmacy from the faculty of Chatenay Malabry (Paris XI). She also obtained an MBA in Business Management (IAE) and various masters and diplomas in Statistics and Health Regulatory Law. Carine Cochereau, began her professional career in hospitals and health facilities performing different activities: clinical studies, chemotherapy preparation, medical device management, steam sterilization and pharmaceutical counsel within clinical departments such as the neonatal department, as an intern in Pharmacy at Parisian Institutions. Over the last 14 years, Carine Cochereau, has supported various medical device companies in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia through responsibilities in Regulatory, Clinical and Medical Affairs. Carine Cochereau, is also actively working in partnership with associations and regulatory authorities to develop regulations for today and tomorrow.

Rachel Hoffman Rachel Hoffman
Vice President, Clinical Operations North America

Rachel Hoffman joined Biom'up as our VP Clinical Operations North America. She is responsible for providing leadership and support for all aspects of clinic operations in the USA. Rachel is a versatile biomedical engineer and medical device expert with combined research background, regulatory expertise, clinical operations, and program strategy skills. Rachel has extensive experience in medical device and clinical operations with leading companies including NAMSA and CryoLife, Inc. She has a BSE in Biomedical Engineering from Pratt School of Engineering.

Roberto Manson Roberto Manson MD
Vice President of Surgical Education

Roberto J. Manson MD joined Biom'up as VP of Surgical Education. He oversees training and education for our sales and marketing teams, in addition to continuing his focus on preclinical and clinical research. Roberto completed his medical and surgical training in Argentina before relocating to Durham, North Carolina with his family. Roberto has over 15 years of experience in research and education working as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and as Associate Medical Director of the Surgical Education and Activities Laboratory at Duke University. He also has over 15 years of experience working as a consultant for a variety of medical device companies coordinating preclinical testing, in the design and execution of first in man clinical trials, and in the development and application of animal models.
